In living Stewardship as a way of life, we “minister” in gratefulness and as the scripture directs … “love one another as I have loved you.” Ministering is performing services or giving things that are needed, so all activities at St. Mary Church are a ministry of some kind. While some roles, such as Eucharistic Minister or Lector are traditional liturgical ministries, participating in service activities or on committees are also forms of ministry.
Below you will find a listing of most of the ministries at St. Mary Church. As you scroll, look for ministries that allow you to share your strengths. We thank the Lord for the many and various gifts He has given us. In giving back to the Lord, look for those ministries that meet the passions of your spirit. If you would like more information on a ministry, please contact the listed Team Ministry Leader. Pray about the ministry to which you are being called.
You may sign up for more than one ministry. Many parishioners are already involved in more than one ministry. For example, someone could be a lector but participate in seasonal activities such as The Parish Festival Committee or The Giving Tree. The only limitations are those of time. Each Intentional Disciple should be involved in at least one ministry, as we have the desire to see as many parishioners as possible in ministries which they have expressed an interest.
A liturgical ministry is simply being involved or assisting with the Mass. While the Priest is the presider and main guide for the movement of the liturgy, it is a community effort to complete the Mass. If you are intersted in becoming an altar server, sacristan, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, greeter, or usher, please click here to visit our Liturgical Ministry page for details and to volunteer.
This celebration takes place during the same time the adults are celebrating their Liturgy of the Word during Mass at 10:00 AM every Sunday. This presentation of the Gospel is for children currently in Pre-school and Kindergarten. The presiding priest will call forward the children when the Children's Liturgy begins. The minister will lead the group to the classroom where the children will hear the Liturgy, sing a song, and participate in an activity. Children return to their parents during the offertory celebration.
If you are interested in leading the Children's Liturgy, please contact the Faith Formation office.

Since 1995, the Prayer Quilt Ministry has been active in St. Mary Parish. We are chapter #48 of Prayers and Squares International, a worldwide organization that provides quilts for those in bneed of prayer. We have provided over 100 quilts to date. Since our early days, we have expanded our mission to provide services to those in our community both near and far. We provide quilts yearly to "Royal Kids Camp." This ia a CHristian based camp for foster children in Wayne, Oakland, and Livingston Counties.
We also go beyond quilting. We support the MAUBC center in Southfield using our talents sewing, knitting, and crocheting baby blankets. We have made surgery caps for a children's hospital, pilowcases and head scarves for women in treatment for breast cancer, quilts in honor for Michigan's fallen police officers, and made "Fidget Quilts" for DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Alzheimers patients. We have sewn drapery and made purifictors for our church. We also participate in the annual St. Mary Craft Fair to help support our mission of service.
Please consider joining our ministry. For more information, contact Rachelle, ravick72162@aol.com .
