Welcome!
Liturgical ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your baptismal call of service to one another. Our liturgies utilize the talents and gifts that God has given this community to the fullest extent. Whether participation is through “behind the scenes” preparation and planning or through a public role of service within the Mass, parishioner contributions help our liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations. Please prayerfully consider joining one of these ministries. If you would like to consider learning more about, or joining the Liturgical Minister team,
please complete the form at the bottom of this page, and a staff member will contact you. Thank you for your consideration.
The sacristan makes sure that all of the preparations are made for the celebration of the Eucharist.
This includes dressing the altar, preparing the liturgical vessels, bread, and wine, correctly placing the Missal, Lectionary, and any other items required for the celebration. Duties also include cleaning the altar following Mass.
An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion assists the Priest to prepare and distribute the bread and wine to the people during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. They stand at the altar with the Priest, pray with the assembly, and reverently distribute the bread or wine to the people. EMs may also serve the Body and Blood of Christ to the sick and homebound.
The Archdiocese of Detroit now requires EMHC to become certified. To become certified, one can watch on Youtube the class that Fr. Tomy offered or complete the AOD online class. Please click here for more information.
The altar server assists the Priest throughout the celebration of the Eucharist. This is done through specific actions and by setting an example of active participation in the liturgy. Boys and girls from grade 4 and above who have received their First Holy Communion and are trained may assist the priest during the liturgy.
Men and women who assist at Mass or Funeral Masses to enhance the worship of our faith community.
The Lector plays an important role in the Liturgy of the Word as they proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other services. The Lector must be confirmed in the Catholic faith.
Parish volunteers who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass.
Ushers assist people to their seat if necessary. They coordinate the family who will bring the water, wine, and hosts to the Priest during the offertory. They are also responsible for passing the offertory baskets and taking up the collection. One usher carries the crucifix and leads the procession and recession to and from the Sanctuary.
Coffee Social volunteers prepare coffee and donuts after Mass on designated weekends. They also ensure that the social hall is clean after the event is over. The coffee socials typically take place on two weekends per month.
