Prayer Quilt MinistryChapter 48 - Prayers and Squares International

The Prayer Quilt Ministry of St. Mary Milford is part of an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt.  The purpose of the ministry is not to make and distribute quilts but rather to promote prayer. Our motto is "it`s not about the quilt, it`s all about the prayer."  Each quilt is an expression of love and concern from your parish family, to someone with a special need of prayer and support.  There are many reasons that people request a prayers quilt, be it illness or personal crisis.  Our chapter meets on the first and third Friday of the month, at 10:00 am at St. Mary, September through June.  For further information, please call the Parish Office and they will help you get in touch with one of our members.

“He will cover you with His wings”
Psalm 91:4

Each quilt is made with love, hope and prayer.
Each knot represents a special prayer that is said for the recipient

What We Do?

St. Mary, Prayer Quilt Ministry is a non-profit ministry dedicated to promoting prayer through hand-tied quilts. As a person ties a knot, they say a silent prayer for the individual who will receive the quilt as a gift of God's healing love.

Pray

The purpose of this ministry is to involve the parish faith community in praying for those in need, and to promote an active prayer life among the participants.

Ask

The quilt recipient must first agree to receive this gift of prayer. Giving a prayer quilt as a surprise is never appropriate.

No Charge

No payment of any kind is accepted for a quilt. This gift of love and prayer cannot be bought or sold.

Sponsor

A concerned person approaches someone who is dear to them and is in need of prayers and comfort and asks if they would like a prayer quilt.

Request

With that person's approval the sponsor submits a request form to the Prayer Quilt Ministry for a prayer quilt.  Call the Parish Office to request a quilt.

Prepare

The Prayer Quilt Ministry group prayerfully prepares a quilt to present for tying.

Present

The finished quilt is presented so all members of the faith family can complete the ties while saying a silent prayer.

Deliver

The sponsor delivers the finished quilt and prays to the recipient.

Our Prayer When Dedicating Each Quilt

We extend our hands in blessing to
(the recipient of this quilt.)
May God the Father bless you;
May God the Son heal you;
May God the Holy Spirit strengthen you;
In the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen
